Hallgarth Residents enjoy trip to the Garden Centre

Blanche, a resident at Hallgarth Care Home in Durham, spotted an advertisement on TV for a local garden centre, stating that Christmas had arrived. She decided it would be a good idea to go and visit it.

Everyone jumped on the bus and off we went.

Once everyone arrived at the garden centre, the fun really started. Blanche found great amusement in reading the wish tags on the Christmas tree and wouldn’t move until she had read them all. The wishes showed that Santa would indeed be busy delivering bikes and scooters, although one young man wished to be the Prime Minister! Blanche filled in her own ticket and hung it on the tree, wishing a happy healthy Christmas and hoping everyone’s wishes come true.

Doreen enjoyed seeing all of the different Christmas trees and decorations, remembering the baubles and paper decorations she used to make with her family in the run up to Christmas.

Mary wondered what was coming next when she picked up a Santa Hat and it started dancing.

David, a budding horticulturist, enjoyed seeing all the Christmas plants and flower displays.

Once everyone had taken in all of the sights, the next stop was the café for tea and cake and a natter on what everyone saw. It was definitely a good place to explore in the run up to Christmas.
