Golden Games see residents transported to the 1960s

Residents from Laurels Lodge Care Home in Aberdeen have taken part in the Annual Golden Games hosted by Aberdeen City Council.

As with every year, there’s a theme. This year was no different. The theme was colours with Laurel Lodge assigned the colour blue. So the costumes were inspired by swimwear from the 1920s.

Marlene Smith, Personal Activities Leader, said: “Being a part in events like this is worthy to be proud of especially when you see the residents being very happy, proud and excited, they all seem like a different person at the games. The residents and team at Laurels Lodge can be quite competitive and we really put much time and effort in what we wear to the event. It’s nice to be recognised by the other teams as well. Can’t wait for next year! Special thanks to Jenny, Gemma and Aoifie for their help and support to make the day a success.”

The Laurels Lodge team received a trophy for winning the shoot and score game, Jim Davidson kept shouting “we won a trophy!” He was really proud of his team and the smile on his face showed his excitement!. Each member of the team also received a medal.
