Hallgarth Care Home in County Durham have been hard at work, trying to fulfil the wishes of their residents. This week, the Newcastle Dance Centre were enlisted to see if they could help grant one of said wishes…
Bobbie, 94, has spent most of her life dancing and formerly worked as a dance teacher for many years. She is an avid watcher of all dance programmes, and has longed to see these wonderful performances live. As Bobbie is now immobile, the home decided to bring the dancing to Hallgarth, and invited members of Newcastle Dance Centre to perform for her.
The dancers kindly gave up their Sunday afternoon to perform for Bobbie and the rest of the residents, and all were incredibly grateful.
Bobbie made sure to count the beats throughout, as she watched performances of The Waltz, The Jive and her favourite, The Tango. Afterwards, she scored all dancers 10 out of 10, and told them to never to give up on their dreams, and to come back and see her anytime they needed advice.
The residents then joined in with the dancers, and performed the Hand Jive, which was meticulously directed by Bobbie.
It was truly a special afternoon for all. A huge thank you to all who helped organise the event, and Newcastle Dance Centre for helping to make Bobbie’s wish come true.
