After weeks of anticipation from residents and staff, Monet the pony visited Northlea Court care home in Cramlington. Pony therapy has proved a huge success in the past, with residents really enjoying and benefitting from the interaction with the animals.
Firstly Monet visited all the residents in the dining room, before trotting off to the individual rooms of those residents who are less mobile. The gentle pony was a huge hit with everyone involved, and there were big smiles all around. This was a real family event with residents and their families, and even the children of some staff members, all getting the chance to interact with the friendly little pony.
Home Manager Sandra Smith said, “This is the second time pony therapy has visited Northlea Court, and once again it has been a truly memorable experience for all the residents and families. We look forward to having them back in the autumn. Lots of photos were taken on the day and are displayed at the home for those who want to see.”
