Painting poppies at Hallgarth

Hallgarth Care Home used their creative skills to make a beautiful display for Remembrance Day.

Recently in our art club, our residents enjoyed painting poppies for our window display. We also used them to create a collage to have as a background during our Remembrance service.

Whilst we were painting poppies, we discovered some interesting facts about the meaning of the different colours of poppies. Red poppies are for the remembrance of soldiers, purple poppies represent all the animals and birds who lost their lives in the war and white poppies are a symbol of peace.

All of our residents in the art club received a crochet poppy as a little thank you and for them to wear with pride. We’d like to thank our very talented residents from our craft club who made the beautiful crochet poppies.

Hallgarth Care Home is located in Durham and provides Residential Care, Nursing Care and Respite Care.
