Ashcroft Care Home has introduced a new initiative - the '2 o'clock stop' - which sees all staff at the home downing tools at 2pm and spending quality time with residents.
On some days the stop has been dedicated to playing games and on one occasion a full afternoon tea, for which staff brought in cakes, biscuits and buns for staff and residents to enjoy as they had a chat together.
Home Manager Helen Baston said:
"All the staff get involved and it has really helped to bring the team together, especially when I have a new domestic team. The games times was probably the favourite so far, with relatives noting a 'buzz in the air' as staff and residents played together.
"We have also had a donation of a karaoke machine, so I think that may be the next big event, some of my residents have fantastic voices, although I'm not sure about the staff and definitely not mine!"
