Everyone at Sandringham Care Home in Portadown was thrilled to learn that popular team member Sam Bright was named Personal Activities Lead Champion at the national Four Seasons Care Awards in Birmingham last week.
Sam's multiple nominations were full of examples of his creative and inclusive approach to the PAL role, which has led to wonderful experiences for residents and extensive local media coverage in recent months.
Regional Manager Patricia Greenbanks commented:
"Sam is an inspirational Personal Activities Leader and has excellent ideas for activities. One of the best was his 'Twelve Days of Christmas' campaign - it was unique and an excellent way to involve all colleague roles, residents, relatives and visitors to the home - even the postman!
"Sam truly deserves this award; he is a respectful, caring and trustworthy person, always wanting to make a difference for our residents at Sandringham."
Charlotte Oppong-Agyare, Sales & Marketing Director, presented the award and said it had been a privilege to judge the category, with five finalists that took her breath away. Of Sam, she said:
"Sam is described as the beating pulse of the home and showed an all-round approach where life in a Care Home is a life for living and where nothing is impossible. He demonstrated a real understanding that it’s not just about the events and therapies they organise but about relationships and those that extend beyond residents to families and friends and the wider community."
