Swan House residents enjoy a gift of the latest technology

Residents at Swan House Care Home have been embracing the latest technology with a new large screen interactive table.

The touchscreen table has lots of fun games, puzzles and activities and can also be used to show videos and films. It is portable, so is perfect for moving around the home and can easily be wheeled to residents’ rooms as well as being used in the lounges.

Home Manager, Anne, said: “We are so grateful to one of our residents who donated the gift to the home to enrich residents’ lives. The table is such fun, the activities are brilliant and provide great stimulation to benefit mental agility. When we aren’t using it for games, we can set the background to show things like an ocean full of tropical fish which is enjoyed as a relaxing, quiet activity - we all need a little of that sometimes!”

As part of their Magic Moments Together activities programme, residents are also enjoying using the table for their popular bingo sessions, as the large, bright display makes the numbers so easy to see.

Resident Joan is loving the new table and says: “It’s interesting and challenging at the same time” and resident Albert enjoyed watching film footage and reminiscing; “It brought back so many memories watching and listening to songs from wartime.”

Swan House Care Home, located in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and provides residential care, nursing care, palliative care, respite care and intermediate care.
