Christmas day at Northlea Care Home
In all our homes, we know our care teams work really hard to make Christmas a special time for every one of our residents. We have had lots of lovely festive stories from so many homes to share on the website so thank you.
For today’s winter warmer we thought we would share one of the stories sent in which is about Northlea Care Home in Northumberland and just how they help make Christmas wonderful in their home.
Home Manager Sandra always pays a visit on Christmas day with her husband Simon and son Archie. This year Sandra and her family will be dressed in festive attire and giving out presents to residents. Sandra and Archie will be elves while Simon will be dressed as Father Christmas.
There will be lots of festive fun and activities to get involved in, including an annual panto, a visit from the local Brownies carol service and a tasty Christmas feast.
Resident Dolly says: “The home make me and my relatives feel like part of the family at Northlea.”
Sandra adds: “If I’m not working on Christmas day I have always included a visit to my home with my husband and son (my son is 15 now but has visited every year since he was born). I think it’s important to make the day family orientated. It’s great for those residents who have family, but can be a sad time for those who have lost loved ones or on their own.
We try to make the festive time an enjoyable one with lots going on, fun and laughter, and make everyone feel like part of the Northlea family.”
Here are some photos from last year’s big day where a great time was had by all.
