Saintfield-Lodge-Care-Home-Belfast-Christmas-Fayre-Dec-2017

6 Jan 2018

A couple of weeks ago, Saintfield Lodge Care Home in Belfast held their Christmas fayre which was a huge success.

Melanie Reyes, Home Manager, said: “As the joyous carols played in the background and the smell of freshly made mince pies wafted in the air, everyone definitely felt the Christmas spirit! Handmaid Christmas cards, decorations, crafts, knitted items, pine cone Christmas trees, table centrepieces and home baked cakes featured in the spread. The residents and visitors took part in face paintings and the popular tombola which is a massive big hit. The Christmas fayre has become a yearly tradition in Saintfield Lodge and the residents and team alike enjoyed showcasing their talents in arts and crafts as they all knew that the event is for a good cause. All proceeds went to the Resident’s Comfort Fund. A massive thank you to everyone for their support.”

Northwest-CHAPs-Graduation-Dec-2017

5 Jan 2018

People embark on a career path because it’s something they love, they yearn to develop, grow and blossom in their profession.

Here at Four Seasons Health Care, Care Assistants can up-skill themselves on the organisations Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP) Programme.

On Thursday 20th December 2017, a graduation ceremony was held at Shawcross Social Club in Wigan, celebrating the achievements of 47 newly qualified CHAPs.

Rachael Junge, Managing Director for Four Seasons in the North West of England, said: “Here at Four Seasons Health Care we take great pride in our CHAP Programme, and everyone who undertakes the intense 12 week course. I want to congratulate all of the CHAPs for graduating; your hard work and dedication have paid off. These are the first CHAPs in my area, and I’m absolutely delighted at all of your achievements.

“The Programme is innovative and helps the CHAPs to provide invaluable support to the nurses in the homes.

“All the CHAPs have come through this long journey and I want to thank you for your commitment. I also want to thank the Nurse mentors who have guided and supported the CHAPs every step of the way. Well done everyone!”

The newly qualified CHAPs are now able to provide some general nursing duties such as medication rounds. This benefits the home as it enables the nurse to deal with more complex issues.

FSHC-Northern-Ireland-World-Mental-Health-Day-exhibit-2017

5 Oct 2017

Four Care Homes who care for people with mental health issues have partnered with the Belfast Trust to celebrate World Mental Health Day with a display of arts and crafts produced by residents of the homes.

The exhibition highlights the importance of mental health and the maintenance of positive mental wellbeing. The exhibition will be officially opened by Lisburn Mayor, Tim Morrow and will take place in the Knockbracken Hall, on the Saintfield Road next Tuesday 10th of October from 3pm-5pm.

The event even attracted an endorsement from The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, who have been in touch to congratulate the residents on their work.

Carol Cousins, Managing Director of Four Seasons Health Care in Northern Ireland explained why the organisation places such an emphasis on the mental wellbeing of their residents. “We treat each of our residents across all of our homes as an individual with their own personal choices about care needs and lifestyles. When care needs include mental health as well as physical heath support we recognise the importance of working to maintain healthy mental wellbeing. Working on art and craft keeps our residents active and they take great delight when their talent is recognised. The exhibition is called ‘Metamorphosis’ which is fitting as it heralds the journey to positive mental wellbeing which is vital to all of us, young and old.

“The exhibition is a tribute to the users of our mental health units and to our dedicated teams.”

The four homes are Saintfield Lodge, Greerville Manor, Lecale Lodge and Cedarhurst Lodge.

Melanie Reyes, Home Manager of Saintfield Lodge said: “This whole project has been such a rewarding one for residents and staff alike, it is such a joy to discover how talented our residents are and the pleasure they have taken in their art work, this has brought us all closer as a team.”

Anyone is able to come to the exhibit. So why not pop down and take a look.
