Welcome to The Model Care Home
You'll find The Model in Ballymoney. We're one of County Antrim's most popular care homes, providing a high standard of residential and nursing care for elderly people. We also offer respite care to give home carers a much needed-break.
Set in a quiet residential area, our purpose-built property is renowned for its facilities, excellent staff, and high quality care.
Our well-equipped bedrooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We have several communal areas around the home, and residents love our mature gardens.
At The Model Care Home, residents are considered part of the family. We put their health and happiness at the heart of everything we do, and our dedicated team of nurses and carers actively encourage residents to take part in all decisions - contributing to everything from the way their rooms look to the therapies they receive.
Life at The Model Care Home
Our activities coordinator organises both group and one-to-one pastimes and diversions. All activities are completely optional, and for those who like to get involved we post a programme around the home.
We have a weekly interdenominational church service in the home, and a foot doctor visits to tend the people living here.
Our menus provide plenty of choice, including homemade soups, and we cater for all dietary and cultural needs. Our chef freshly prepares our meals, and bakes a variety of fresh treats every day.
I feel at home when I visit my mother and feel confident that she is being well looked after, I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else.
The manager will always spend time taking to you and will help you with any problems you have. I would recommend the home to anyone
Excellent communications on progress and condition. The staff are very friendly and my mum is content.
I can walk in to the Home and feel comfortable. Everybody is always so friendly. It just feels like going to my mums house and I don't worry about going home.
The food is very good and if there is nothing on the menu I like an alternative is always offered. There are snacks and drinks available whenever I want one.
I am always informed of any changes to my mothers care or condition. Its gives me great peace of mind to know she is well cared for
The number and variety of activities provided by the home is excellent.
I don't know how to thank you all enough for the wonderful way in which you cared for my Dad. You made him feel special and loved. You made him happy.

Colleagues from Laurels Lodge Care Home in Woodside, Havencourt Care Home in Stonehaven and Cumbrae Lodge Care Home in Irvine all came together to do a skydive, raising money for residents in their care and Alzheimer's Scotland.
Tracey Rhodes, Resident Experience Facilitator for Scotland, said: "Everyone was really excited for the jump. One of them hadn't even been in a plane, and they completed it, which was a huge accomplishment. They managed to raise £4,000 which is fantastic. Well done everyone."
Congratulations everyone! We’re all proud of you.

The Model Care Home in Ballymoney has achieved 100% satisfaction rating for its standard of care in a national survey of people living in care homes.
The independent confidential survey was conducted by leading market research organisation Ipsos MORI for “Your Care Rating”.
The Model also scored 91% or 912 points from a possible maximum of 1,000 for its overall performance rating, which is derived from four core themes: staff and care, home comforts, choice and having a say and the quality of life being experienced by the residents.
The home, which is operated by Four Seasons Health, achieved 100% rating for being safe and secure, and for the care team treating residents with kindness, dignity and respect. All participating residents said that the care team understand them as an individual, are sensitive to how they are feeling and capable of providing the care they need.
The home scored over 95% or 954 out of a maximum of 1,000 around the theme of the quality of life for people living in the home.
It scored 100% among respondents for the choice of meals offered in the menus and the quality of food. All respondents said they can take part in activities if they want.
Carol Cousins, Managing Director for Four Seasons Health Care in Northern Ireland, who operate the home, said: "All the care team are delighted that in this independent national survey the residents at The Model Home rated the home so highly.
"The survey outcome corresponds with the responses we have had directly from residents, their relatives and care professionals who are able to give us instant feedback on a day to day basis about any aspect of care quality, by using iPads placed in the home with a touch-screen questionnaire linked to purpose designed software. This has been recording a 99% overall customer satisfaction rating.”
Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority inspectors reported that residents told them “I have no complaints, I’m happy here,” and “Staff are all very good and kind.”

On Sunday 31st July 2016, The Model Care Home in Ballymoney held their Summer BBQ event, putting on a treat to those who visited the home.
Maggie Jess, Home Manager, explained: “Our Summer BBQ was a huge success, which was definitely helped by the fact that the sun was shining.
“We had lots of things for people to do and see including 30 vintage vehicles which were displayed in the grounds and musical entertainment provided by local singer Alistair Coyles.
“Here at the home we wanted to give something back to our local community, so we held a Macmillan ‘coffee morning’ during the event. Thanks to everyone’s kind donations we raised £140 for this good cause, which is fantastic. I want to thank everyone who donated.”
Whilst the home was raising money for Macmillan, they were surprised when they received a kind donation for their own resident’s fund, which enables them to provide special experiences for those in their care. The Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club raised £500 and presented the residents with a cheque at the BBQ.
Maggie Jess, Home Manager, added: “We were extremely humbled to receive the donation from the Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club. This money will help us to provide a variety of different experiences for our residents, based on their likes and dislikes.
“I’m really glad this event was a success. I look forward to seeing what next year will bring!”
