Local Reverend will be missed by Nottinghamshire care home
Reverend Frank Crowther was part of the family community at Lawn Park Care Home in Nottinghamshire, delivering a monthly Holy Communion service to the residents.
Frank, who was the local Vicar of the New Cross Community Church in Sutton-In-Ashfield, also visited Lawn Park for holy celebrations during the year, along with other church members.
Following his retirement and a short illness, Frank decided to join Lawn Park Care Home’s Palliative Care community in November 2019. Frank needed end-of-life care and told his wife Joyce and 3 children that Lawn Park was the only care home for him. Joyce would come for lunch every Tuesday and they could be seen holding hands in the lounge.
The team at Lawn Park did all it could to support Frank and his family and everyone got to know him, from the administrator to the maintenance man, nurses, carers and other residents. Frank was well liked by everyone and will be missed - here are some of their heartfelt messages:
Resident Peggy said “It was a lovely surprise to see Frank join us at Lawn Park, all the years he has visited us for our holy communion and then came to live with us’
Home Manager Roz added “Frank was a very important part of our Lawn Park family over the years, he joined us for numerous celebrations at Christmas, Easter & Harvest Festival time and for staff long service awards. It was a privilege to look after him”
Administrator Joanne said “Frank was a very kind and caring gentleman. When I welcomed Frank to Lawn Park, I was shocked that despite being very poorly he still remembered a conversation we had had 9 years ago when my daughter was off to University and I was upset at the thought of her leaving home at 18. Frank comforted me with his kind words saying everything would be fine and clearly he was right and was so pleased when I told him that she was now working as a Solicitor locally.”
