Respite Care (Short-term Care)

Arranging respite care with us allows you to take your break, holiday or other absence secure in the knowledge that your loved one is being cared for in warm and friendly surroundings. It’s also a great opportunity for someone who’s considering long-term care to get to know our home and the team through a trial stay. It may be possible to book respite stays in advance at some of our homes.

Our aim with respite care is to continue as closely as possible the support  each person receives when they’re at home with their regular carers. To help this process we’ll arrange a meeting to assess an individual’s care needs and understand their personal wants and wishes. We’ll then provide a care plan that details the support we’ll give during their stay with us.

We’ll find out what their needs are and ensure we have the right team in place. We’ll help them settle in quickly and make sure they feel at home. We’ll ask about their hobbies and routines, their likes and dislikes, and make sure the care we offer is just right for them.

Accommodation in our homes is comfortable, with home-cooked food, sociable lounges and quieter rooms and gardens where our guests can relax.

From painting classes to ballroom dancing, our activity programme is open to all, but we also appreciate that some people just want a place where they can enjoy some peace or pursue their own hobbies.

With hairdressers, physiotherapists and chiropodists among the services available, we go the extra mile to make sure short-term residents are always looked after.

So how much does Respite Care cost?

Naturally, the cost will depend on the type of care and the length of stay.

The Care Home Manager will be delighted to talk to you about this when you arrange a visit and check availability at the home of your choice.

The fee will include 24-hour care, plus all meals, activities, hotel and laundry services. Payment is usually required in advance or at the start of your stay and in some instances your Local Authority may be able to contribute towards the cost. To find out more, simply contact your local social service department or one of our Care Home Managers.

Remember, it’s worth booking in advance so that everything is in place for your stay.
