Care Home Manager
Jemma has always been passionate about care, which she believes is due to her parents working in the care sector and she has followed in her mum’s footsteps by becoming a Care Home Manager. Jemma is a highly experienced due to working in the Health and Social Care Sector for over 20 years. Since joining Beech House four years ago, Jemma has become a Registered Manager.
Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
I liked the values Four Season Health Care have and I thought it was great the homes are more than just a place of care. I was also really impressed by the support team members receive from the head office.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I absolutely love my role! It’s such a great feeling knowing I’m making a difference to our home, residents and my team.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I love shopping and going on holiday in our caravan with my husband, our four children and two dogs! In my spare time, I support the local bowling club as my husband and children all play.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I am proud of all my qualifications and achievements but becoming a Registered Manager was a very special moment in my career.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
Other than having my four beautiful children and being married for 15 years, my biggest achievement is passing my driving test! I know this sounds strange but I never thought I would be able to drive.
I started my lessons when I was 17-years-old but because I fell pregnant with my first child, I was unable to continue learning to drive. It wasn’t until I turned 34-years-old that I found the courage to start having lessons again. I was so proud of myself when I passed my test six months later!
What are your Qualifications?
When I was 16-years-old I got my first role in the care sector as a Kitchen Assistant. I progressed into the role of Bank Care Assistant and this quickly became a contracted role. My career really started to take off when I became a Senior Care Assistant.
This role involved mentoring new team members and helping the management of the office. I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to join Beech House as the Administrator and I gained experience by helping the Home Manager. In 2019, I was thrilled to become the Home Manager and have since gained my qualification as a Registered Manager.
My qualifications include many NVQs in various subjects. I have a Level 1, 2, and 3 in Hairdressing, Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and a Level 3 in Business Administration. I also have lots of relevant skills for Levels 2 and 3 care qualifications. Currently I am working towards my Level 5 in Leadership and Management.
