A Warm Welcome to St Catherine's Care Home, Horwich
You’ll find St Catherine’s Care Home in a pleasant area in Horwich. We are a short drive from Bolton town centre, and close to public transport, making us easily accessible for visitors to pop-in for a chat.
Our Care team offers residential care for people who need help with daily tasks, and nursing care for those who have complex medical needs. We also provide 24-hour nursing dementia care provided by specialist teams trained in the complexities of looking after those living with dementia, who may also have other long-term medical conditions.
Our dementia care is accredited as part of Four Seasons Dementia Care Framework.
We run a busy activities programme at St Catherine's Care Home, including regular days out, visits from entertainers, and competing in the local carnival designing a float every year, and usually winning. We also have strong links with the local church and schools, who often visit our residents.

Fees start from £940 per week
We provide care for those who are publicly funded as well as those paying for their own care. For those who are paying for their own care, our weekly fees are broken down by the main care types we offer.

Gillian Johnson
Care Home Manager
Gill has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 30 years and has been with St Catherine’s for 10 years. From a young age, Gill has enjoyed looking after people, which is why she’s always wanted a career in nursing.
Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
I thought it was great that the managers gave their team members so much support. Since joining, I’ve also felt supported by the other managers within my region too. I’m very excited about my future and what the company has to offer.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It gives me great job satisfaction when I see our residents happy and smiling. I also love having a great team of staff and working in partnership with the wider community.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
My hobbies include, knitting, sewing any craft making. I also have a great interest in end of life care and nutrition.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I’m very proud of attending university and gaining my diploma in higher education and a nursing qualification as a mature student.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
My greatest achievement outside my career is bringing up my five children.
What are your Qualifications?
In 1989, I started my career in a care home for the elderly. I went on to complete my NVQ level two and three and started to working in a nursing adult branch in 2007. I was there for two years before working as a registered nurse for three years. For the last eight years I have been a Home Manager.
