"From the first day of working in care, I had found my calling. I have a great deal respect for the residents within our care and if a jobs worth doing its worth doing well."
Leanne is a highly experienced Home Manager, having worked in the Health and Social Care sector for the past 24 years. She has worked in a variety of roles within care homes, including, Kitchen Assistant, Housekeeping, Carer, Senior Carer, company Training Coordinator and Home Manager. Leanne joined The Sycamore and Poplars as Home Manager in December 2020.
What do you like more about working for Four Seasons Health Care?
Everything is so efficient and all departments in the business are supportive.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love helping people and being a people person. I have much time and empathy for our elderly who are a wealth of knowledge from a life lived. I love to be actively involved in problem solving and ensure that our elderly residents receive the highest level of care.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
My hobbies and interests include reading, learning and development, spending time with my family and grandchildren, walking and visiting the most remote places of the world that are not deemed tourist spots.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
Over the course of my career, I have completed several talks in Schools, Colleges and Universities giving an overview of the care home industry and what working within a care environment is like.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
I have a large family and am very driven. My greatest achievement is maintaining my career and working to a higher level. I have a thirst for knowledge and continually looking for personal improvements and to ensure residents lives an enhanced life.
What are your Qualifications and Work Experience?
I began my career in the Care Sector as a Kitchen Assistant and have working in many roles since. I have worked in many sectors including Elderly, Learning Disabilities, Nursing, Nursing Dementia, Dementia and Mental Health.
Some of my qualifications include, NVQ 2, NVQ 3, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Health and Social Care, Learning and Disabilities Qualification Level 2, Business Admin, Dementia Awareness and Mental Health Awareness Level 2.
What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
Look for the home that shows they care, the environment is important but the care delivery and care interactions are what makes it count.
