A heart-warming video showing a care home resident and carer spontaneously singing and dancing together has gone viral and had more than a million hits, since it was posted on the home’s Facebook page.
The resident Pat, who lives in Four Seasons’ Wansbeck Care Home, at Choppington, Northumberland, was restless at night and so carer Lee Holdroyd, 28, made her a cup of tea, then knowing her love of singing he got her to join him in a sing along and within minutes they were singing the Monkees’ “Daydream Believer” and dancing together. A colleague saw them and captured it on film.
It was watched in Canada by Pat’s brother Ron, who she has not seen in almost 70 years since he emigrated after the war.
Denise Hyden, the Four Seasons' Home Manager said: “Pat is always the life and soul of any party in the home and she loves to sing and dance. What Lee did was a spontaneous and beautiful thing, which is typical of him, although neither of them understand why the video has attracted so much attention and been shared so many times. It is the sort of thing that we do in this home. “
ITV's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield interviewed Lee live on This Morning (Wednesday 14th September 2016).
Lee and Nick, Deputy Home Manager, also recently had an interview with Koast radio about the recent viral success of the home - have a listen to the interview by clicking here. (psstt. skip to 5:45)
