Granby Rose holds coffee morning to raise awareness of dementia

Granby Rose Care Home in Harrogate specialise in providing dementia care. The team care for residents with this progressive illness on a regular basis, and wanted to show relatives and other visitors what it’s like to live with Alzheimers to help them understand what their loved one is going through.

Sarah Jackson-Bargh, Home Manager, said: “At Granby Rose Care Home, residents are considered part of the family. We put their health and happiness at the heart of everything we do, and our dedicated team of nurses and carers actively encourage residents to take part in all decisions - contributing to everything from the way their rooms look to the therapies they receive.

“We just wanted families and other visitors to understand what the residents go through on a daily basis.

“The dementia café was a great success and was even visited by our pet therapy dog.”

More information about dementia and Alzheimer’s is available on the Alzheimer’s society website.
