On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we all take a moment to remember those who have fought for Queen and country in many conflicts over the decades.
Residents, relatives and the care team, including Charlie the dog, all marked the two minute silence at Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend. The residents took part by either watching the Remembrance Service on TV or attending the in-house service provided by St Mary’s Church.
Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “Everyone at the home wore their poppies with pride to mark this iconic day. After the silence we went on to have a trip down memory lane, where residents shared their stories about what they experienced during the war. It really is an eye opener listening to the stories the residents were telling.”
