A Woodside based care home, received a lovely donation following the outstanding care they gave to a resident and their family.
Laurels Lodge Care Home in Woodside was presented with a bench for their sensory garden, in memory of resident Mrs Georgina (Jean) Byres, who sadly passed away.
Moira Fowler, Mrs Byres daughter said: “I can’t thank the team at Laurels Lodge enough for how well Mum was looked after, if there was any issues, they was dealt with right away, she wouldn’t have lived long enough without you all. The whole family wish to express our sincere gratitude for all the loving care, attention, kindness and friendship that you gave to our dear Mum when she was at Laurels Lodge. Thank you all.”
Sheila Gesma, Home Manager, said: “I want to thank Moira and the entire Byres family for their kind donation to the home. The residents will really appreciate being able to sit on the bench and remember Jean whilst enjoying the garden.
“Jean was a lovely lady, and we’re all deeply upset with her passing.”
Member of the care team were humbled by the Byres family donation, with some of them – who had regular contact with Jean and her family – thanking the family personally for their donation.
Joanna Scollay, Key Worker at Laurels Lodge, said: “It gives me and my colleagues a sense of pride knowing that we are appreciated especially by the relatives, and this gives us an inspiration to work harder.”
Rhodora Antiojo, Nurse at Laurels Lodge, said: “Jean has been a part of Laurels for almost 6 years and will be really missed, and it makes me feel happy that the family recognised and appreciated the care and attention that the staff gave to Jean.”
