Sabrina McFarlane, acting Home Manager at Ivyhouse Care Home in Birmingham was shortlisted for an award recognising her as an outstanding example.
Sabrina started her career at Four Seasons as a nurse at Park Farm Lodge Care Home in Tamworth. It was here that her Home Manager Donna Sealey nominated her for the Staffordshire Dignity Awards in the Outstanding Example category after observing Sabrina go above and beyond the call of duty every day.
Donna Sealey explains: “I witnessed Sabrina do everything in her power to help those in her care. Although she was only contracted to work 9am – 5pm, she often exceeded these hours, whether that meant starting at 6am or working until midnight, she did everything she could to ensure that every job was conducted to her high standards. Sabrina is committed not only to the residents but to their families too, and she would learn new skills to ensure she could empathise and handle with care the situations she was placed in, enabling everyone to have the dignity they deserve.
“Her actions have motivated the rest of the team, and they all soon followed in her footsteps and adopted the same high standards. Sabrina is a fantastic person to work with, and whilst at Park Farm Lodge all I ever heard was positive feedback. Well done Sabrina, you thoroughly deserve this nomination; you truly are an outstanding example.”
Sabrina ensures that everything she does helps the residents in her care have the best experience possible. She has taken the time to see what it’s like being a resident, sampling every aspect of the home and asking for continual feedback from everyone.
Alas she never received the top prize, the fact that Sabrina was recognised this was has left her extremely humbled. She told us: “Although I didn’t receive the overall winner’s title, I left as an empowered finalist, knowing that dignity is at the focus of many professionals’ hearts on a day to day basis.”
Everyone at Four Seasons applauds your hard work and dedication Sabrina. Well done!
