Welcome to Swan House - a poem by J Hammond and E Ponder

This poem was written by Jean Hammond and Eileen Ponder, two residents from Swan House Care Home in Chatteris.

Welcome to Swan House

Welcome to Swan House, we like to call it home,
Because when you are here, you are never alone.

Knowing there’s always somebody around,
We love it on a Monday, when you can hear the church bells sound.

It’s only a practice, but always sounds good
I’ve always fancied a little go myself, maybe I should.

Ding, Ding, Dong, Chime, Chime, Chime,
I could listen to these bells until the end of time.

So peaceful and relaxing, I love to hear them ring,
and every so often, I sit here and sing.
