The care team at The Cedars and Larches Care Home in Ilkeston, wanted to spread a bit of festive cheer to a local organisation.
The team got together and came up with the idea of donating money to a good cause instead of writing Christmas cards to each other.
Nina Wright, Home Manager, explained: “I’m really proud of the team. They got behind this initiative and donated the money they’d usually spend on Christmas cards to the cause. It really was a lovely thing to do.”
The team decided that the Hillside Animal Sanctuary would be the beneficiaries of their good will. The Sanctuary has taken in over 900 abandoned horses, from stray horse pounds that would have otherwise been shot. They use donations to help feed and care for them.
Alison Richards, Personal Activities Leader at the home, said: “When we looked into the work that Hillside Animal Sanctuary do, we were pleased to donate our Christmas card money to them. I hope our contribution helps.”
