Shamrocks, leprechauns, gold coins and Guinness added the finishing touches to Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend, St Patrick’s celebrations.
Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “The Irish theme touched all parts of the home from the entertainment to the menu.
“We invited Mark Turner in to join us for a sing-a-long whilst the residents did some gentle exercises, working up an appetite for their upcoming Irish delicacies.
“Mark used his guitar and ukulele to sing some upbeat songs from the past, which was music to everyone ears.
“For lunch, the kitchen team served up an Irish themed menu including Irish beer battered fish and chips, Bailey’s cheesecake and Irish stew and Guinness sticky cake. There was certainly too much choice to be had and everything was delicious. Later in the day we all indulged in some Irish coffees which were delicious. St Patrick’s Day was definitely a day to remember here at Howdon.”
