Laurels Lodge Care Home in Woodside had reason to celebrate last week, as two of its residents reached their sapphire wedding anniversary.
Mrs Elsie Burnett, a resident at the home and husband Stanley celebrated their achievement with their friends and family.
Stanley and Elsie first met in 1949, they were both at a dance at Marquie at Millfield near Cuminieston. There was another man trying to get a dance with Elsie but since the ladies get to pick who they want to dance with, Elsie instead went to Stanley and asked him to dance and the rest is history. They got married in 1952 and were blessed with two daughters Lorna and Moira.
Elsie Burnett said: “We both have had our ups and downs like any other couple, but it was 65 happy years”
Stanley Burnett added: “We’ve never really had a row, but I am proud of Elsie because with me being away every week years ago because of my job, she has raised well our two daughters. We have lots of good memories together and as a family”
Sheila Gesma, Home Manager, said: “It was great seeing Stanley and Elsie happy on their special day, we at Laurels Lodge wish them both more happy years together.”
Everyone at Four Seasons wishes you a very Happy Anniversary Elsie and Stanley.
