Love was definitely in the air at The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home in Mansfield as residents and the care team embraced Valentine’s Day with chocolates, roses, and lovely pictures with them and their loved ones.
Karen Gilbert, Home Manager, said: “We definitely felt the love on Valentine’s Day. Firstly we received a lovely donation of cookies and roses from our local Co-Op which was fantastic. We then shared these with the residents and their families for them to enjoy. Then it was photo time, and everyone put on their best smiles for their Valentine’s photo. Love was definitely in the air.”
When they’re not enjoying the day of love, some of the care team took resident Vera and her family out to the local British Legion club to enjoy a Beatles tribute act, which took Vera back to her youth.
Karen Gilbert added: “This was a lovely special experience for Vera. She had a ball singing and dancing the night away with her loved ones and our care team. When she came home to the Sycamore and Poplars she couldn’t stop filling everyone in on what had happened. It’s great to see that we can make a real difference to our residents’ lives here.”
