Once again, Staff at The Parklands Care Home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire took Residents out to the Local Pub, The Canal Tavern. All Residents enjoyed it and it seems that it is fast becoming one of the most popular activities, not only amongst Residents but also their Families and Staff! All are continually welcomed by a friendly team who always ensure our Residents are comfortable and content and are served the highest quality, delicious hot meals. They also enjoy a few beverages along the way!
On the 15th June 2013, Woodlea Care Home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire hosted their annual Summer Fair. There was a Plants Stall, a Cakes Stall, a Raffle, Tombola and many Prizes on offer. Residents and Visitors enjoyed Cream Teas, Cakes and Sandwiches as well as the Music that was on offer.

June 21st 2013 saw the UK's care homes take centre stage, uniting for the first time ever to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities. On National Care Home Open Day Marlborough Court Care Home opened up their home and held a barbeque and 'Pirates Party', a fun day which included an outside children’s play area with pirate themed activity packs and masks. A treasure hunt also took place with clients and relatives judging which members of staff were the ‘Best Dressed Pirates’ to which prizes given.
Care Assistant Linda Stone from Cherry Tree's Care Home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire received a certificate from the Mayor of Barnsley for completing a 12 month course on Dementia Awareness. The course was run by Barnsley Council and only ten care staff from the Barnsley Borough started the course with only seven completing it. The certificate is for becoming a Barnsley Dementia Champion and also Level 3 Award in preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Level 2 in Awareness Dementia. Linda has learnt new skills which she can now pass on to other staff on the Dementia Unit where she works at Cherry Tree's Care Home.
