A resident at Lea Green Court Care Home in Newcastle Upon Tyne recently celebrated her 102nd birthday. The team planned a party for her and invited her closest friends and relatives alongside the Lord and Lady Mayor who also joined to celebrate the day.

Lucy Wright, photographed above (left), marked her birthday with a party arranged by the team. They decorated the home with birthday banners and balloons to get everyone in the birthday spirit. Live music was also arranged in the afternoon. Lucy has been a resident at Lea Green Court since March 2014 and has become a very popular lady with everyone. Her friends and family gathered at the home to share the day with her. The Lord and Lady Mayor presented Lucy with flowers as a gift on this wonderful occasion.

Helen Langley, Home Manager, said “It was a lovely day for a lovely lady. Lucy is very popular at Lea Green Court and deserved this brilliant birthday party. She was delighted that the Lord and Lady Mayor came to present her with a gift and it was beautiful to see her surrounded by her closest friends and relatives. We all had a great day!”

Happy Birthday Lucy, from all at Four Seasons Health Care.

Carnalea Care Home in Bangor held their annual open day recently. The team decorated the garden and invited friends, family and acquaintances to join the home on their fun-filled day. There were games and activities available for all ages throughout the day.

Bunting was put up all around the garden to set the scene for the party – the garden soon filled up with visitors coming to join in the fun. There was a bouncy castle, face painting and other games for children to get involved with. A bric-a-brac stall was also set up to help raise money for the residents’ fund. Live entertainment and refreshments were provided for all.

Cora, a Staff Nurse at Carnalea, told us “I’ve worked here for 10 years and this has been without a doubt the best Open Day yet. We raised a great amount of money for the residents’ fund that they can enjoy in the run up to Christmas. It was a great day for everyone!”

The team at South Quay Care Home in Blyth recently arranged for the residents to attend a Tea Dance in the local area. The Tea Dance takes places on a monthly basis for people in the surrounding area to get together for some dancing and a catch up.

The Tea Dance was full of smiles and fun; both residents and members of the team were up on the dance floor showing off their dancing skills. To keep everyone’s energy levels high, there was teas, coffees, biscuits and cakes. For those who didn’t fancy having a dance, there was live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Anthony Olson-McCoy, Home Manager, told us “We attend the Tea Dance monthly, the residents really enjoy themselves and it’s great to see them up and about dancing. It’s a time for everyone to let their hair down and socialise with others who are there. Everyone always looks forward to going and we always have a really good day”.
