One of Amethyst House's newest and youngest residents did a bit of exploring recently.

A baby hedgehog who recently made Amethyst House Care Home in Doncaster his home decided to try and help out the staff whilst they were clearing the garden last week. The hoglet was very inquisitive but kept having to be put back near his nest to save any unwanted injuries.

Katie Wilson, Home Manager, said: "It was lovely seeing the little hoglet helping us when we were clearing the garden - he's certainly grown since we last saw the family. We've been feeding them corned beef along with some roast beef on Sunday's as a special treat!

"Lewis, our Administrator's son, was digging up bugs and grubs to give the hoglet and his siblings - they're definitely very spoilt and a wonderful addition to our family here at Amethyst."

Care team get a right soaking at Flower Park Summer Fair.

On Saturday 20th August 2016, Flower Park Care Home in Doncaster welcomed visitors with open arms as it held its annual summer fair.

There were lots of things for people to do including: sweet and candy floss stalls, entertainment provided by a local singer and the prize attraction the stocks.

Amanda Searle, Home Manager, said: “The stocks were a huge success. Last year I got wet through, however, the care team and the residents thought it would be better this year to have a vote at who should be locked away. Our Housekeeper Lyn Brooks, Personal Activities Leader Angela Cooper and Laundry Assistant Jane Taylor were the chosen victims. They were all fabulous sports and got thoroughly soaked.

“All in all everyone had a great day. We managed to raise £200 for our resident’s fund which will help us to fund special experiences for those in our care. I want to thank everyone who donated, it really means a lot.”
