The Lodge Care Home in Killamarsh celebrated Victory in Europe (VE) Day in style.
To mark the day, the home was decorated with Union Jack bunting and welcomed local singer Tanya Adele who sang a combination of hits from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Janet McVeigh, Home Manager said: “We had lots of fun here at The Lodge. The residents enjoyed singing the afternoon away with Tanya Adele. It was a lovely way to celebrate VE Day.”

The team from Balmoral Care Home in Sheffield has been commended for making a difference to the lives of those in their care.
Liza Murphy, Home Manager, said: “The team were commended by the Speech and Language Therapist for going the extra mile in ensuring the residents get all the help and support they need. I’m so proud of my team and it was a pleasure for me to give them this commendation."

The residents at Southfield Court Care Home in Huddersfield had a treat when they were visited by the Wise Owl and Birds of Prey Sanctuary.
With some keen bird watchers amongst the residents the team arranged for the birds to come along to let the residents get up close and personal with some lovely birds.
Clare McCourt, Home Manager, said: “The residents were captivated by the wild birds. Getting up close and personal to these beautiful birds had a lovely impact on our residents, helping them to create memories and providing stories to tell to their loved ones when they next came in.”
It wasn’t just all bird related news at Southfield Court. The residents have created and started their very own gardening and poetry groups which have been a huge success. Both clubs are hoping to grow and attract more members, including some of the care team.

Congratulations go to the team at Botham Hall Care Home in Huddersfield who have been commended for their caring nature.
Home Manager, Christina Halonka had the honour of presenting the team with their awards, and presented the two Personal Activity Leaders Kate and Willow with a special award as they were singled out for their caring, affectionate and dutiful to the residents in their care.”
Christina Halonka, Home Manager, said: “I’m very proud of the team here, they regularly go the extra mile to make a difference not only to the residents in their care but also the relatives. The lovely words they received from the family member commending them for their care is something each one of them should be proud of. Plus the recognition from the staff at the garden centre for Kate and Willow. Well done everyone. You’re very deserving of this award.”

Team members are nominated for an award by residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced team members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.

It’s not every day you can celebrate 105 years of experience in the care sector. A special event at Northlea Court Care Home in Cramlington did just that on Friday 12th May 2017.
Sandra Smith, Home Manager presented the eight team members with their Long Service Certificates and gifts as a thank you for their continued dedication and hard work.
Sandra Smith said: “It was a pleasure presenting the team with their awards. I want to say massive congratulations to them all for their continued dedication and hard work. They’re all thought of very highly here in Northlea Court by the rest of the team, the residents and the relatives. Not every home can boast of so much experience under one roof and I’m very proud of each and every one of them.”
