It’s always nice to try new things, so the team at Campsie View Care Home in Glasgow decided to hold a world food competition, which encouraged residents to try food from around the world.

Katy Jenks, Home Manager, said: “It’s always nice to try new things, and the Nigerian good was amazing. I think we’ll continue to sample food from around the world for the next few weeks.”

Hallgarth-Care-Home-Durham-Margaret-100th-birthday-Dec-2017

Hallgarth Care Home in Durham played host to a surprise birthday party to celebrate Margaret turning 100.

Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Margaret celebrated her special day with all of her family around here, enjoying her favourite meal of egg and chips, with a slice of bread washed down with a glass of lemonade. We all wish you many happy returns Margaret!”

Margaret has always had an active lift and worked in an ammunitions factory during the war. Even at the age of 100 she isn’t slowing down and is a member of all the Hallgarth clubs, including Arts and Crafts and Poetry. She is always up for an outing and loves to chat to the visiting students from the university about her life.

The-Rookery-Care-Home-Ebbw-Vale-Stricty-Come-Dancing-Dec-2017

We’re only a week away from the Strictly Come Dancing Final, and it seems that dancing fever has gripped the nation.

Residents from The Rookery Care Home in Ebbw Vale enjoyed putting on their dancing shoes and doing a foxtrot, waltz and jive to name a few.

Gail Llewelyn, Home Manager, said: “Everyone enjoyed putting their best foot forward for the dancing. We even had our own set of judges. There were lots of seven’s going round and one or two tens. A great night was had by all.”

Old-Vicarage-Care-Home-Worksop-HRH-Wedding-Anniversary-Dec-2017

When the residents at Old Vicarage Care Home in Worksop found out that the Queen and Prince Philip were celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary, thy thought it was only fair to throw a right royal bash in their honour at the home.

Pauline Clews, Home Manager, said; “The residents wanted to mark this occasion in a very special way, and did it in the best way we know how to here at Old Vicarage, throw a huge party. We had a fabulous entertainer in who had everyone singing and dancing along whilst enjoying a bit of fizz and slice of cake. Happy Anniversary your Royal Highnesses.”

Hallgarth Care Home in Durham held their annual Christmas Fayre complete with lots of home-made gifts and cards.

There was so much to do from games, to sampling some home-made bakes, guess the name of the dog to name a few. There was even a visit from Father Christmas himself.

Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a fantastic day. It was great to see everyone from Hallgarth – residents, friends, families and the care team – coming together with the local community to raise money to provide special experiences for the residents at Hallgarth. Thanks to everyone’s kind generosity we managed to raise £715 for the residents fund. Merry Christmas everyone!”
