Ashcroft Care Home - December Newsletter

Welcome to Ashcroft Care Home's December newsletter! First up - some special dates for your diaries:

Relatives Meeting
On Monday 16th December we will be holding our Relatives' Meeting. This will be at 4pm in the first floor cafe and it would be fantastic if you could make it. We find these meeting helpful to keep you all up to date with the important things happening within the home.

Residents Christmas Party
Our Residents Christmas Party will be on Friday 20th December. If you would like to join us for the buffet, there is a small contribution of £5 for up to 4 people, which just helps cover the cost of the food. Please add your name to the form on the Reception window by 10th December so we know numbers for ordering purposes. Please come along and join in with the festive party even if you don’t want to eat - we have a fabulous singer coming along and it promises to be a lovely afternoon for all involved.

Christmas Dinner at Ashcroft
Thirdly, if you would like to have a Christmas dinner with your loved one at Ashcroft, please let us know. We are expecting the Christmas menu any day and will let you know prices as soon as we receive them. It would be lovely if you could join us!

November news:
Wow! What a fabulous month of November we have had. We've been very busy behind the scenes as well as in the home with craft and painting activities, a sing song from the choir, pampering days, board games and towards the end of the month we started getting into the festive spirit ready for December. The residents have been busy making Christmas decorations for our display in Reception and we will keep on adding to it over the next few weeks.

We held our Christmas Fayre on Sunday 1st December and it was a massive success! We managed to raise a fabulous £216 for our residents. I have already been booking in entertainment for them for the next few months. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated, came to the fayre and supported us - and a massive thanks to the staff who helped me on the day and the staff who worked the floors making the day run smoothly and stress-free for our residents, you are all FABULOUS!

The residents loved our entertainment from Phil Lawrence on the day and are very much looking forward to his return on 20th December. Many of you may also have seen that I have been selling Christmas decorations, kindly donated by Ken our domestic, over the last month; these have also raised a wonderful £100, which has paid for the entertainment and craft supplies for over the December period.

The staff all joined in with Elf Day for the Alzheimer's Society on Friday 29th November and we raised £22.58.This may not seem much but it could actually pay for 800 dementia help cards to assist if someone with dementia gets into difficulty, so well done and thank you to everyone who donated.

So, what’s coming up? Well, we have our new therapy dog, Woody, coming in to visit the residents on Thursday 5th December at 11am, he would be delighted if you came along for a fuss!

Our choir will be coming in on Wednesday 11th December at 2pm for some carol singing - this is always popular with the residents and you are welcome to join us.

Hady Primary School choir will be visiting us on Monday 16th December at 10.30am; they are coming to sing Christmas carols to our residents, they are a fabulous young choir and would very much appreciate your support!

And as mentioned above we have Phil Lawrence joining us again on Friday 20th December at 4pm.

Finally, we will be having a New Years Eve party (don’t worry, it will be an early one!) on Tuesday 31st December, it will be nibbles, dancing, music and terrible hats, so come and join in the fun and let's see 2020 off to a cracking start!

Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you all from all the team at Ashcroft!
