Caring at Christmas campaign at Bishopsmead Lodge

We were delighted to welcome some local Bristol greeting card publishers to Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home, who kindly donated their Christmas cards and covered postage costs, as part of the ‘Caring at Christmas’ campaign.

Sarah and Kelly from Stormy Knight, Lizzie from Penguin Ink and David from Ricicle Cards are members of the Greeting Cards Association who are running the campaign, which helps elderly people who may be unable to get out to the shops by taking a selection of free cards to them, along with any help needed to write them.

Magic Moments Coordinator, Amanda, said: “Our residents loved meeting the Bristol-based card publishers and choosing their favourites from all the wonderful designs over a mince pie and a cuppa. We are so grateful to Sarah, Kelly, Lizzie and David for their card donations and all the help they gave with writing them and offering to post them. Sending physical Christmas cards seems to be on the decrease nowadays but our residents love the festive tradition of writing them, and of course receiving them. There’s still something very special about an envelope coming through the letterbox rather than receiving an email.”

Resident, Michelle, said: “It was a lovely morning, all the card designers were so kind and helpful as I find it hard to write cards by myself.”

Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home is located in Bishopsworth, Bristol and provides residential carenursing carepalliative carerespite care and intermediate care.
