Everyone at Cumbernauld Care Home in Glasgow is delighted that Registered Nurse Linda Brown has been crowned ‘Nurse of the Year 2019’ at the national Four Seasons Care Awards in Birmingham.
Linda was commended for going above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference to the daily experiences of those in her care and being exceptionally dedicated and conscientious.
Following over 1,300 nominations, Linda was shortlisted with four other colleagues from over 250 Four Seasons Care Homes across the UK.
Amanda Cunningham, Four Seasons Chief Operating Officer, presented Linda with the award and said:
“Linda was nominated by several members of the Cumbernauld care team, who described her as ‘always there to help and support colleagues’ and ‘caring, kind and thoughtful towards residents.’ They highlighted how despite her busy schedule, Linda frequently made time for one-to-one contact with residents - teaching one lady how to crochet and taking another who had no family out for afternoon coffee on a regular basis – and often staying late after her shift has ended to support residents and families.”
Emma Corbett, Home Manager at Cumbernauld Care Home added:
“Linda worked as a Care Assistant here at Cumbernauld for ten years before deciding to retrain as a nurse. During this time she continued to do regular bank shifts around her study before returning as a newly qualified nurse, determined to make a difference to the lives of our residents, which really demonstrates her commitment and passion for the care sector.
“We are all absolutely thrilled that she has won this award, which is thoroughly well deserved - congratulations Linda!”
