Lammermuir House Care Home in Dunbar has a new weekly date in the diary that everyone looks forward to.
Every Thursday morning between they welcome children from nearby Cherrytrees nursery school, and during their sessions residents and their little visitors enjoy activities and games together such as playing with dolls and other indoor games.
This week the the beautiful sunny weather meant that the group could venture outside, and the children enjoyed various grass games while residents watched and cheered them on.
Later, it was time for snacks and drinks and maternal instincts kicked in as residents helped the little ones to eat and drink safely.
Home Manager Gladys Somanje said:
"It is very special to see the interaction and engagement the residents have with the younger generation. The children are naturally relaxed during these activities and nursery teachers have fed back postitively to say that there has been noted behavioural changes in the children, with showing more attentiveness and calmness when they engage with our residents than is often the case at school.
From our point of view, we love these visits; the house comes alive with the irrepressible sound of children laughing and chatting and it is a time our residents really treasure."
