It all came down to the role of the dice, a three or not a three. That was the question.
In Hallgarth Care Home in Durham last week, there was a lot of fun leg pulling, booing, cheering and some very strange creatures scattered around.
Angela Muir, Home Manager, explains: “We had beetles. Not the VW Beetle cars or the Beatles Band, but arrays of beetles as part of our beetle drive. Everyone had lots of fun and it all came down to the final roll of the dice as Blanche needed a three for an antenna and Ruth needed a two for an eye. You could cut the tension with a knife. When Blanche rolled a four and Ruth rolled a two the home erupted in cheers. It appears this game brought back lots of memories, especially as some residents shared that they used to call the game ‘cootie’ and used to play it in the 40s with their grandparents.”
