Hallgarth’s Art Club reaches new heights!

We are a talented bunch here at Hallgarth Care Home and during our latest Art Club we decided to take things to the next level by painting skyscrapers to mark National Skyscraper Day!

Residents Ada, Shirley and Hilda each painted a selection of buildings which we put together to form a colourful collage which now takes pride of place in our gallery; The Hallgarth Collection.

The ladies discovered lots of facts and figures about skyscapers while researching the subject, here are a few of our favourites;

The world’s first skyscraper was built in 1885 in Chicago. It was just over 42m high which was considered very impressive at the time.

To qualify as a skyscraper nowadays, a building must have over 40 floors and be taller than 150m.

Currently the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai which is over half a mile high!
