The Silver Liners pop into Hallgarth

Hallgarth Care Home in Durham had the pleasure of welcoming back their friends ‘The Silver Liners’, a group of 7 Ukulele players for an afternoon of music and song.

The gig included music local to the North East of England including: ‘When the boat comes in’, ‘The Keel Row’ and ‘Blaydon Races’ and got everyone’s feet tapping and hands clapping. Everyone then enjoyed a good old sing along with songs including ‘Hello Mary Lou’, ‘Daisy, Daisy’, ‘Pack up your troubles’ and ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’, with a little rock and roll, the Twist and some Gospel music thrown in.

Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “It really was an afternoon with a bit of something to suit everyone. Of course they gang couldn’t come along without a tribute to George Formby whom made the Ukulele famous with ‘Leaning on the Lamp Post’. The afternoon was finished off nicely with tea, cheese scones and a good old chat.”
