The Cedars and Larches Care Home in Ilkeston marked International Guide Dog Day on 24th April with a visit from trainers Robert and Angie and retired guide dogs Benson and Waldo.
Residents were interested to hear about the way guide dogs provide independence and social interaction for people with visual impairments, and it was a pleasure to meet some of the wonderful animals that have carried out this work and offered love and comfort to their owners.
Benson (aged 10) and Waldo (aged 5) now have a permanent home together, and enjoyed getting lots of attention and strokes from residents during their visit.
