The theme of this year's Care Home Open Day was 'celebrating art in care' and Hallgarth embraced the concept brilliantly, encouraging residents to use poetry as inspiration for some very impressive pieces of individual art.
The exhibition highlighted all the residents' projects, big and small, made in connection with well-loved poems. Volunteer Pat Webb, who has been involved in the Poetry Club for over ten years and she explained the purpose and importance of poetry and art to life at Hallgarth.
Pat then handed over to local MP Roberta Blackman-Woods, the Labour MP for Durham, who cut the ribbon and declared the exhibition open!
Congratulations to all at Hallgarth on a fabulous, meaningful project, wonderfully executed.
