It would be rude not to dance on International Dance Day right?
That’s what the residents at Marlborough Court Care Home in Thamesmead thought. They marked International Dance Day by celebrating a multitude of cultures and everyone tried their hand at learning a new dance routine.
The home welcomed the ‘Jugnu Bhangra Group’ who inspired everyone with Bhangra style dancing. The residents also got the chance to see a Dhol – a Punjabi drum - and had the opportunity to ask the musician for a quick lesson.
Not to be out done, the Marlborough Court Choir sang a couple of songs including ‘Oh Happy Days’, ‘Lean on Me’ and ‘Amazing Grace’.
Louise Hulme, Home Manager, said: “The day was a fantastic success. The residents enjoyed seeing all of the different styles of traditional dress and understanding the music and dances that are unique to each culture. It was a lovely day for everyone to enjoy and the feedback we received from residents and relatives was fantastic. I want to thank everyone who came and celebrated International Dance Day with us.
