Residents from Maple Lodge Care Home in Sunderland took a trip out Seaham’s sunny seafront to visit some war memorials.
They enjoyed some historic features like the WW1 memorial statue of ‘Tommy’ – officially named 1101, referring to the first minute of peace as the armistice came into force at 11 am on 11 November 1918.
Visiting Tommy has become a firm favourite for residents because Seaham seafront is so attractive with plenty of ice cream parlours and tea shops nearby.
Here are some photos of residents Doris, Mabel and Brian tucking into Mr Whippy ice creams and chocolate cake!
