Project Meerkat: Our community project with Begbrock Primary School

Here at Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home, residents have been enjoying Intergenerational Lunch Club with Begbrock Primary School children.

They have been working on a new Easter project over zoom, together residents and the children have been decorating meerkats that will be part of the trail around Bristol over the Easter Holiday!

It has taken a lot of planning and organisation, the children setup zoom calls with our residents to go over how to decorate the meerkats to fit the theme of ‘community’ – after lengthy discussions, it was decided that everyone would colour handprints on the meerkats and decorate them with words associated with a community.

The primary school children decorated half of the meerkats and the residents were tasked to decorate the rest. Once they are completed, there will be 36 community-themed meerkats displayed in shops throughout Broadmead, Cabot Circus, The Arcade and The Galleries from Saturday 9th April to Saturday 23rd April!

The residents are excited to go see their decorated meerkats in the community, especially the ones placed in John Wesley’s Newsroom!

Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home is located in Bishopsworth, Bristol and provides residential carenursing carepalliative carerespite care and intermediate care.
