Remembrance Day is of extreme importance to all at Evedale Care Home in Coventry, where a number of residents were conscripted towards the end of WWII and returned home changed forever.
The distinctive red poppies that symbolise the day of remembrance are clearly on display within Evedale and worn with pride and as a symbol of respect for all those who served their country and their nation to help uphold the rights we sometimes take for granted.
With recent conflicts In Iraq and Afghanistan it is not just the older generation who feel affected as the home also has residents' family members and staff relatives serving both past and present. Residents are not only our link to the past but they are the link to the future as well, sharing their lives and memories with us.
The centenary of the Armistice was marked at the home with conversation and reminiscence as well as beautifully decorated poppy themed cakes.
