Here at Tudor House Care Home, we’ve been playing ‘swapsies’ with the reception pupils at St. Peter’s Primary Academy in Hednesford as part of our Local History event.
During a zoom call on our big screen, we chatted to the children who were amazed to hear that during our school days, boys and girls had to play on separate playgrounds. There were lots of giggles when resident Sandra told them that she had to wear just blue knickers and a t-shirt for her PE lessons!
The intergenerational story swap was great fun and the children also treated us to renditions of the songs ‘Daisy Daisy’ and ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ which they had learnt especially for us.
Magic Moments Co-ordinator, Lynn, said: Reminiscing about fond memories is important for our wellbeing as we get older and is great exercise for our minds. It’s wonderful for our residents to be able to share their life experiences with young people and to learn from them as well.”
