Christmas gifts sent with love
In today’s wonderful winter warmer kind-hearted people from across the nation have been thinking of our residents and surprising them with gifts to make their Christmas extra special.
A special delivery for Ty Gwynno
Residents at Ty Gwynno Care Home in Wales were the lucky recipients of a Secret Hamper containing delicious goodies and a music CD full of favourite songs to sing along too.
Home Manager Janina said: “It was a complete surprise! We understand the hamper was kindly donated by a lovely gentleman whose mother lived with us and he just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for all the care that was given to his mum by the home.
Our residents had a super afternoon tea enjoying the delicious goodies with a cup of tea and happily reminiscing.
A surprise delivery from a local girl’s school
Year 11 pupils from Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School in Blackburn reached out to their local community as part of their Festive Winter Gift Programme. The girls delivered beautiful gifts to neighbouring Springfield Care Home including slippers, biscuits, chocolates, throws, gloves, scarves and toiletries.
The gifts were given out to residents in the Intermediate Care community who were delighted. This wasn’t the school’s first visit, last year the young ladies gave equally lovely presents to the home’s dementia community.
Personalised Christmas cards for residents at Grove House
Candice, Personal Activities Co-ordinator at Grove House, invited residents to take part in an arts and crafts session, during which she made a personalised card from herself and the home to make each resident smile.
Candice said: “I asked residents to pick out what they would like on their cards and then we stuck the bits and bobs on together. I finished them off later on and personalised them so they can go in their rooms on Christmas Eve. Some residents don’t have any family and I think everyone deserves a Christmas card sent with love. I enjoy doing arts and crafts with the residents and it’s very therapeutic for them.”
Residents pack presents for pets
Residents at Brimington care home wanted to give something back to Chesterfield Shoebox Appeal, who have kindly donated many shoeboxes to the home at Christmas time full of fabulous goodies.
That’s why, this year residents and their families helped to organise 13 shoeboxes packed with gifts for dogs and cats to help pet owners this Christmas. Chesterfield Shoebox were most grateful to receive the boxes when PAL Carrie-Anne dropped them off.
